How can we help?

Start with the three short guides, search the answers below, or ask Vela — the assistant in the bottom-right corner answers from these pages and the docs.

Getting started

  1. 01

    Your first plan

    1. Create a free account (no card), or open the editor without one — guest plans are saved in your browser.
    2. On Projects, describe the building in “Generate with AI”: rooms, sizes, plot, storeys.
    3. Answer the clarifying questions if the AI asks any, or let it decide. The editor opens with your plan.
  2. 02

    Refine it in the editor

    1. Select a wall, door or room and change its properties in the panel on the right.
    2. Draw with snaps and ortho, or type a command (WALL, DIM…) — Ctrl+K opens the command palette.
    3. Or ask the AI assistant panel: “make bedroom 2 a metre wider”. Every change can be undone.
  3. 03

    Hand it on

    1. Open File → Export (Ctrl+Shift+E) and pick a format: DXF, PDF sheet, SVG, PNG, IFC4, glTF or OBJ.
    2. SVG, PNG and Autonieer JSON work on every plan; DXF, PDF, glTF and OBJ need Pro; IFC4 needs Team.
    3. Invite colleagues to your organization so everyone works from the same versions.

Getting started

Accounts, the free plan and the guest editor.

Do I need an account to try Autonieer?

No. The editor opens without an account and keeps guest plans in your browser. AI generation, saving to the cloud, exports beyond SVG/PNG and teams need a free account — no card required.

What does the free plan include?

Three projects, 10 AI generations a month, SVG and JSON export and 7 days of version history. Pro and Team add more generations, DXF/PDF/3D exports, IFC4 (Team) and longer history — see the pricing page for every limit.

Why am I asked to confirm my email address?

After your first few plans, generating needs a confirmed email address. Use the link in the welcome email, or send it again from the banner at the top of the dashboard.

Generating plans

How the AI reads a brief, and what it won't do.

How should I write a brief?

The way you'd tell a colleague: building type, rooms and their sizes, plot dimensions, storeys and anything that matters about orientation or adjacency. Numbers you give are kept. If something is ambiguous the AI asks up to four questions — or you can tell it to decide.

How accurate are the dimensions?

Geometry is stored in whole millimetres. The AI decides the programme and layout; a deterministic solver turns that into walls that meet, doors that fit and rooms that close. The summary you get is checked against the drawing, and anything the AI assumed is listed rather than implied.

Can it handle tall buildings?

Up to 120 storeys. Towers are composed from floor types — ground, amenity, typical floors and roof plant — around one stair-and-lift core. If a brief asks for something beyond a limit, the result says so rather than quietly changing your numbers.

Which AI do you use, and does it see my designs?

A hosted large language model plans the programme; our own deterministic solver draws the geometry. When you generate or refine, the model receives your brief and the design context it needs — nothing else. The current provider and model are named in our AI transparency notice and sub-processor list. If the model is unavailable, an offline planner produces the plan and the app tells you.

Are the drawings ready to build from or to submit for a permit?

No. Autonieer produces AI-assisted concept designs. A qualified professional must review them and take responsibility for code compliance, structure and anything submitted to an authority. See our AI transparency notice.

Editor & 3D

Editing, the command line, layers and the 3D view.

Is the output editable, or just a picture?

Editable. Every wall, door, window, room and dimension is a vector object with properties — thickness, swing, sill height, layer — that you change in the editor. You can also ask the AI to revise the plan and undo anything it did.

Is there a keyboard-first way to work?

Yes. The command line accepts typed commands and coordinates, Ctrl+K opens a palette of every command, and most tools have a single-key shortcut shown on the ribbon.

Does it do 3D?

Yes. The same model opens in a 3D view you can orbit or walk through (stairs included), and it exports to glTF/GLB, OBJ and IFC4.

Is my work saved automatically?

Yes. Designs autosave and keep a version history (7 days on Free, 1 year on Pro, unlimited on Team). Saving is conflict-safe: if a colleague changed the same design, you're told instead of overwriting their work.

Import & export

DXF, IFC4, PDF sheets, glTF and OBJ.

Which software opens Autonieer drawings?

DXF (R2018, AIA layer names such as A-WALL, A-DOOR and A-GLAZ) opens in AutoCAD, BricsCAD, DraftSight and Rhino and imports into SketchUp and Revit. IFC4 carries storeys, walls, doors, windows and spaces into Revit, ArchiCAD and other BIM tools. glTF/GLB and OBJ open in Blender, SketchUp and most 3D viewers, and PDF sheets print at true scale.

Can I import an existing drawing?

Yes, from DXF on Pro and Team. Autonieer recognises the building rather than importing loose lines: walls from paired lines, openings from blocks or gaps, rooms from area polylines. Units are read from the file and anything inferred is reported.

What's on a PDF drawing sheet?

An A3, A2 or A1 landscape sheet at a true scale, with a title block, a scale bar and a north arrow.

Teams, billing & account

Organizations, roles, plans and cancelling.

How do teams work?

Everything lives in an organization. Invite colleagues as owner, admin, editor or viewer; Team plans add an audit log of who changed what. You can belong to several organizations and switch between them.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. Plans are managed in the billing portal, and cancelling stops the next renewal. If you downgrade, your designs stay readable and exportable in the formats your plan includes.

Is there an API?

Yes, on Pro and above: a REST API with organization-scoped keys, idempotency keys, cursor pagination and published rate limits. Create keys under API Keys in the dashboard.

Privacy & security

Who owns your designs and how they're protected.

Who owns what I design, and do you train on it?

You own your designs. They belong to your organization, are isolated from other customers, and can be exported at any time. We do not use your private designs to train AI models.

How do you protect my account?

Passwords are hashed with Argon2id, sessions use rotating tokens, API keys are hashed at rest, and you can turn on two-factor authentication in Settings. Payments go through our payment provider's hosted checkout, so card details never touch our servers.
